Dr. Lauren Genow grew up in East Grand Rapids, Michigan and moved to Tucson in 2003. She is fluent in American Sign Language and worked as an American Sign Language Interpreter (RID CI and CT) before deciding to complete her Bachelor's degree in Veterinary Science at University of Arizona.  After graduating from Washington State University as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, she moved back to Tucson and founded Prickly Pear Holistic Veterinary Care. Dr. Lauren is a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist (Chi Institute, Reddick, FL), certified in Veterinary Spinal Manipulation Therapy (The Healing Oasis Wellness Center, Sturtevant, WI) and she is a  Reiki Master Practitioner (Usui).  She has studied Veterinary Acupuncture at Southwest University in Chongqing, China and is a member of the College of Animal Chiropractors. Before returning to school, Dr. Lauren was a pet owner for 10+ years so she is familiar with both sides of the pet ownership/veterinary care dynamic. She has two dogs (Paz and Pipen), two cats (Sagwa and Joey), and a cockatiel (Petunia).
